This was a furniture-only project for clients moving into a new construction home. Our clients prefer simple, minimal, and clutter-free spaces. We chose to keep the visual noise down by keeping a simple color palette, minimizing louder patterns, and taking a restrained approach to decor and accessories. We used a mixture of warm, organic materials and textures to balance out the softer, cooler grey tones. The result is a warm, inviting home that invites you in to stay a while.
When our clients bought this beachfront condo in Hilton Head Island, SC, it was a dated, tired 70s era vacation rental. We brought it down to the studs and completely reworked every space to turn it into a bright, modern coastal condo for renters to enjoy for years to come.
We wanted to create a space for the guests in our home that both celebrated the city we call home and felt more like a boutique hotel than a bedroom in the suburbs. This room was an experiment in mixing pattern and color in a way we had never attempted until this point and to-date it’s one of our favorite projects by far.
The laundry closet in our first home was a dark room that we never wanted to spend any time in. We stripped it back, laid new flooring, added a beadboard wainscot and cabinetry all painted a rich deep teal, wallpapered the upper third of the room, and filled it with functional, but beautiful, decor.
The primary bath in our personal home was as builder-basic as it comes – vinyl flooring, short vanity, sheet mirror, and lit with only one sconce. Though we were on a tight budget, we managed to completely rework the lighting in this space, add a new, far more functional vanity, and lay new flooring to give this bathroom a new life.
The half bath in our first home was a tiny closet underneath the stairs. But just because a space is small in size doesn’t mean it has to be small in style. We wrapped the room in a nickelgap wainscot, laid marble mosaic flooring, worked in a space-saving vanity painted to match the wainscot, and added brass and black finishes to give it a modern look. This went from being one of the most boring rooms in our house to one of the rooms our guests comment on the most.
